Many leaders including New York Governor David Paterson and former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani have criticized Attorney General Eric Holder’s announcement last Friday that five 9/11 suspects would be tried in a civilian trial in New York City. Paterson expressed concern that the trial is too close to home and still too painful for many New Yorkers. However, others such as New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg have praised the decision as appropriate.

As of this morning, Governor Paterson has backtracked from his statements criticizing President Obama and AG Holder.
