The Threat of Nuclear Terrorism & the US Nuclear Posture Review

As the United States conducts its first Nuclear Posture Review since 2002, the Christian Science Monitor discusses a number of strategic and diplomatic initiatives for reducing the threat of nuclear terrorism. Among the three initiatives cited by scholars Micah Zenko and Michael Levi is an effort to reduce loose nukes in tandem with a good faith effort to reduce US nuclear material. By updating our nation’s nuclear posture and using international law to reflect the principles of deterrence, the Obama administration will make major progress in nuclear threat reduction.
